Ratha Saptami is the Hindu festival which is celebrated for the symbolic seasonal change to the spring and the start of the harvesting season.The Ratha Saptami 2015 is on the 26th of January 2015 (Monday) and the people pray to lord Surya i.e., the Sun god for the beautiful harvest of their farm.The Vishnu God in the form of the Surya is worshiped by the people on this day, This day is also referred to as the Surya Jayanthi as the power of the Sun is being reflected in as Lord Vishnu. As the people from the ancient days worship the Lord Vishnu in the form of the Sun/Surya God and hence it is referred as the Pratyaksha Daivam or Surya Narayana.
On Ratha Saptami the people decorate/ draw their entrance of their houses with the Rangoli patterns of sun which is being ride on a chariot.
